New Cub Scout Delivery Method Available!

The new Cub Scout delivery method and materials are now available. "The change for Cub Scouts is a piloted and successful method of delivering the existing Cub Scout program that is handbook-based and focuses on den activities leading to youth advancement and higher retention." Program Helps will no longer be used but have been replaced with a more planned and focused method.

100 Day Event

Despite “rain or shine”, the Wild About Flower Mound Festival organizers announced this morning that the event has been postponed due to the threat of thunderstorms.

As you know, this event was to be our kick-off event for 100 days of service in the community; leading up to our District event coinciding with the National Jamboree.

Although a little rain may postpone this event, I know that it won’t postpone our Scouts in finding ways to be of service to our communities.

Texas Powder Horn Course 2010: September 10-12 and September 24-26, 2010 at Camp Tahuaya

Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Venturing leaders and now YOUNG ADULTS can benefit from this course. Young adults 16 years and older are invited to participate with a letter of recommendation from their unit leader.

Historical Merit Badge Program Released

The Historical Merit Badge program has been officially released. BSA has "revived" 4 retired merit badges that Boy Scouts can earn for this year only. All the details are available on the Historical Merit Badge program page. Links to scans of the original merit badge books are available online only and the merit badge pamphlets will not be reprinted for this program.

Note that the effective date of all badges is April 1, 2010 and all requirements MUST be completed by 12/31/2010. These badges may be used and counted towards rank requirements and all are non-Eagle required.
