In order to teach Merit Badges, a Scout must work with a Merit Badge counselor.  Counselors are registered at the District level, not at a unit level, although they may serve primarily their home unit.  There is no cost to register as a merit badge counselor.  To register as a merit badge counselor you must:

  1. Complete an adult applicaiton form and enter in the position code space "42" and in the space for description write "Merit Badge Counselor".  You must complete another application even if you are already registered within a unit.
  2. Complete the merit badge counselor application (icon MBC Application Form).  Be sure to write your email address neatly.
  3. Complete Youth Protection Training (YPT).
  4. Give all three parts to the Topsanah District Advancement Chair
